While the rest of Denmark cheered on the liberation in May 1945, Bornholm went on some dramatic days. First two days of heavy bombardment, and then an occupation of Russian storm troops. And the Bornholmen could not get information about their fate when the radio did not tell about the situation. It took almost a year for Bornholm to finally celebrate the fact that the foreign troops had left the island. Among those who experienced the events, there is still a bitterness and a feeling of being let down by the rest of Denmark.
