remember when we wanted a band to back him up now we're like ,no thank you. If he's serious he has to have musicians that showcase him. Every note has to be spot on his tail. Sometimes I wish there was a wizard with a giant tweezer that would just lift him out and extract him from that noise. Those men at the Johnson's store knew how to follow him. Can't he tell the difference ? Glad he's solo this time.

Marie Tudisco- Fly on the wall observations- The Loft, NYC City Winery January 4, 2019 This is always a nice venue, even the upstairs Loft. Intimate and cozy . I kept wondering, how loud will that voice sound in here. A mini presence of the frequent fliers were in the house. His mom and aunt were there. We had our usual table for two. A few people were taking professional photos. Shlomo Franklin was there in his farmer jeans. He's very young and so friendly and had a small entourage of support with him which was nice to see. He seemed so delighted to be opening for Sawyer Fredericks. His music is so easy to listen to, like floating on water. Yet his romantic storytelling is complex .For this solo show all they had were their guitars which seemed to be plugged into the house system. Franklin is a serious contender for success in the music industry. A more suitable pairing for an artist like Sawyer in my opinion. While the audience was fixed on Shlomo, Sawyer came out from the Green Room and leaned against the side wall to watch. He looked seriously interested and supportive. With his hair back in a ponytail in a semi lighted room, that chiseled profile was like an interior designer's focal point on the wall. You know like one of those 6 foot hanging bronze clocks with 4 Roman Numerals, You can't miss it. I spotted him immediately. I noticed he put on some sort of compression gloves before the performance. Franklin casually performed his set. Sawyer executed everything with expert precision and perfection. His arms are solid bands of muscle. What's striking is how he layers and bends the percussion beats on songs like "Broken Home" and inserts live multi-track guitar sounds into songs like "4 Pockets". Rich, full sounds packed with power. In the rest rooms his voice was so loud it sounded like it was coming through the walls. Most of the song choices he sang with belted vocals and little distortion. That requires a lot of physical exertion. I'm no expert but it appeared he knew where to place the notes without harming himself. Yes it was a reminder that he is a solo artist and I've been to the solo shows before but now he's constructing a program for himself that looks physically demanding. He seemed relaxed like he didn't have to over think anything. I would prefer some more straight singing songs like "Gasoline" and "This Fire". People really enjoy his other singing voice too. I say other because there's no word for that either. He granted my request though for an older song so I was happy. He sang "Afraid" Great show. I have to say though I did cringe once when I heard the word 'rage". True, he's not a good talker and is hesitant searching for words. Jumbles up things a little. Better he drops that whole rant. Hope he makes more trips to his Tante's basement now for quiet and inspiration.
