Trixie is the daughter of the late blues guitarist Chris Whitley, who died at only 45. Trixie although not being taught by her Dad to play guitar, taught herself, but you can see his influence in the way she plays. Here is a eerie video of Chris playing and @2:25 a very young Trixie looking on in the background, it's creepy but beautiful at the same time. I like her Yeh she's very talented (self taught) Drums, Piano, Guitar. She plays guitar very unique style. After her Dad died she got her start with Daniel Lanois (who knew her Father) Daniel Lanoisis best known for producing albums for a wide variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, and Brandon Flowers. And they formed a band called BLACK DUB , but for only 1 album. She then went solo. here they are just jamming. Black Dub

I love it!! I wish Sawyer would play it. Quite unusual style but I like it, she must have picked it up from her Dad, but admits that he never really taught her. She awkward on stage also, in a shy way

Trixie Whitley: 'Hourglass,' Live on Soundcheck from her album Porta Bohemica Whitley returns to our studio to perform songs from her just-released new album, Porta Bohemica. In one way a continuation of the blues-drenched Americana of that first record, Bohemica also expands on Fourth Corner's more experimental and genre-hopping tendencies, stretching into breaks of electro-pop and R&B sulk More songs and interview here: www.wnyc.org/story/trixie-whitley-in-studio/
