Can woolly bear caterpillars predict how harsh winters will be? By Stephanie Koons, AccuWeather Staff Writer November 14, 2016; 6:43 PM ET www.accuweather.com/en/features/trend/can_woolly_bear_caterpillars_predict_how_harsh_winter_will_be/61550888Each year, people living in the mountains of North Carolina and central Pennsylvania turn to an unconventional source to get an idea of whether the upcoming winter will be mild or harsh. Unlike your typical meteorologist, however, this "forecaster" crawls on the ground, has six legs and sports fuzzy brown and black bands. The fuzzy prognosticator is a tiger moth caterpillar known as the woolly worm or woolly bear. According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the woolly bear legend is based on the caterpillar's 13 distinct segments of either rusty brown or black. The wider the brown sections, the milder the coming winter will be. The more black there is, the more severe the winter.

that stuff is freaky, we get a little bit of lighting in a storm sometimes, but nothing like that one was, it was relentless, and right next to here, like a second after the flash

Something is causing that. Parakeets can predict the weather and they talk so they can tell you about it. The lightening is pretty though. Be careful.

I'll try to phone a talking parakeet. We had a horrible summer, so a wicked winter is following that
