Sawyer Fredericks w/ Langhorne Slim & The Law

Sawyer and Art SF video by @rox3177 1 15 16
I thought last night was one of the best so far.
Thanks to rox3177. Her video vantage point seemed to keep the crowd interference to a minimum which added to the enjoyment. And thanks to JenMarie and her friend for finding a way to hide the side comments on the live periscope feed. Finally getting to hear Langhorne Slim live was also a real treat.
I thought it was a 'A' performance, video and audio were great.
edit: The trick to hide side comments (works using chrome) is to 'hover' your pointer on the left side where the comments are and hit the 'H" key. (worked for me}

I agree ATE. I watched from my Android. It was definitely one of the best concerts yet. I think the loud crowd gets Sawyer to sing louder. He was amazing on 4 Pockets.
I also love the addition of Art. His playing really adds a lot to the songs. I wonder who wrote his part because I loved it.
I watched a lot of Langhorne Slim's set. His concert really has so much energy. I loved the bit where he went out in the audience to do a song.
Sawyer seemed so happy when he came out to sing On the Attack. He was grinning ear to ear.
It will be interesting to see what points Sawyer picks up from the different acts he opens for. He is already getting more comfortable interacting with the audience. Art is very talented but also very quiet. I bet this will be a great experience for him.
I would really love to see Art get some sessions work or something of his own out of this exposure and his contacts with Sawyer. He really is talented. He and Sawyer, with their long hair, cool dude vibe really looks right at home on stage rocking out like they were last night.

Sawyer is growing by leaps and bounds and last night's performance was one of his best yet. He seems to be getting more nuance in his voice, and who knows, maybe that is in part because of Art's masterful accompaniment? I agree, the bond between them is magical. You can feel and hear they are so tuned in to each other.
Mostly I echo what you said daisy. You nailed it with your comment -- for me. This:
Much of what Art does seems to be instinctual, his jazzy or blues or folk accompaniment more felt than learned.
Rox's periscope was the best one we've seen yet in terms of both the audio and visual. She's become a real pro at this. It could not have been easy for her to film both Sawyer's set, then Langhorne's entire set! Holding her hand and arm perfectly still for that long! Not having loud drunk people next to her was so sweet!
And ATE, I told my friend how much everyone appreciated his figuring out how to turn off the annoying (and sometimes amusing) chat messages! He was watching Sawyer for a while on his tablet and the messages were so huge they were taking up the entire screen! He could not abide and went searching for a way to hide them. And success!! Yay!! He left this morning but was really happy he could help. I was reading ya'll's comments to him last night after he made the discovery! LOL!!
Snoopy, I don't think anyone writes Art's part. I think what daisy said is exactly right. Not that he's improvising on stage, although he could do a bit of that, too in time. But they've been playing together for so long. Have you seen that one YouTube where they're sitting at the kitchen table and Art is playing while Sawyer is doing improv singing, making it up as he goes? They just play off each other I think. I'll see if I can find it.
Also agree that having Art on stage with him gives Sawyer confidence. I said in the beginning Sawyer is growing by leaps and bounds, but I think that goes for Art, too. The next 2 shows are going to be epic.
Was here last night watching Langhorne and like Ister, was completely bowled over by the man's energy and positive vibes. I'm so thrilled that he invited Sawyer on this tour because he's got so much experience, Sawyer -- quick study that he is -- is prolly learning and absorbing tons of helpful info from him just by being there. Langhorne obviously sees what we and so many others do in Sawyer, or he'd never have brought him on tour with him. That's huge!! Loved at the end of "On the Attack" after Sawyer left the stage Langhorne said "He's not even a little bit of a jerk... [couldn't understand the last bit]. He's pretty damn awesome."
