Gasoline- possibly fiction. "My Ruby Claws" is a poetic metaphor for "flames" . The artist has described himself as cold, dark, shy, introverted.

I don't make this up. He said and mama said. I hope he keeps the floor open to Q's about the songs. All that behind the scenes stuff and the making of, interests me.

Guess he re-thought this. In Michigan explains FFY reflects his struggle with possible false relationships based on physical attraction only. Gets "frustrated" with himself for that. Lust. (Biblical term) guilt? Needs time to make sure relationship is legitimate. Most likely not, once the other person finds out he really wasn't interested in them. This explains the angry resentful tone in this would be flowers love tune. How typical

TRANSCRIPT #Michigan 2019 (children laughing and playing in the background) Sawyer: ok so I'm going to try to tell the story behind this one. Aah, so a lot of my songs they.. ah, {glances down at ?notes?] I don't write songs from my personal experience most of the time and the very little I have, ../do , I'm not playing tonight. <chuckles> umm, But this song is inspired more from a thing probably (nervously touches hair) a lot of people go through, in general go through, it's a thing that happens that I get very frustrated about, which is when I like someone more based on their appearance. And I'm swayed by their looks and I don't...and I resent that. And um this song is more about.. {looks down ?reads from notes?] trying to figure out why you care about that, why, why we focus on that and like someone because they are pretty or beautiful. And..[glances down at ?notes?] it's something I've always put myself down on when I was younger because of that, if I was attracted to someone and liked them more because of that I was like why do I like this person? Why..[looks down] ..anyway . {interrupted by other artist:} "Everyone out there is like nooo I'm totally a personality person "(inaudible 'married ..couple') < hecklers chime in 'we feel it ,we feel it' laughing> Sawyer: anyhow this is my latest original . It's called 'Flowers for you.' <laughter>

And the artwork of dead withered up sunflowers, creeping, tangling vines and roadside weeds does indeed compliment the back story.

Tonite sang Don't Even Try.A song about "Taking charge of your own world" whistler how about you take charge? And who you let into your inner circle.
Fact- from the horses mouth. If this song was about the industry at one time it is clearly directed at the fans now. Oh but so many left already or stopped posting. He's late to the game. inner circle? delusional.

Washington DC City Winery Oct 27 2019, a little more insight was given for DET. Time frame, during The Good Storm Tour. It's about not wanting to let someone into your inner circle who wants to be there very much. And about being yourself eatingsomething2 Are we done now?
Fact , fiction or Metaphor. All of the above.
